Football Memories is a programme run by St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation in partnership with Alzheimer’s Scotland.
It’s open to men and women of all ages at various cognitive stages of dementia running on the second and fourth Monday of the month between 2-3:30pm at the SMiSA Stadium. It’s a fantastic way to make new friends and spend time in a safe environment with people going through the same experience and who also share a passion for sport.
Carers are welcome to join but participants are supported by trained, experienced members of staff.
What does St Mirren FC Charitable Foundation’s Football Memories involve?
- Socialise over a cup of tea/coffee, maybe even a mince pie, while looking at memorabilia.
- Memory games including naming line-ups, managers and scorers of the past.
- Regular VIP visits – previous guests include Tony Fitzpatrick, John Needham, and Alan Rough.
- Various activities such as watching old games or listening to them pitch-side.
- ‘Away days’ visiting other Football Memories’ groups at their stadium.
